OUTCOME
ASSESSMENT
The Gold Standard for soft tissue cases is to objectify the injury:
Proof of Outcome Assessment [OA] helps determine the effectiveness of treatment and justifies payment plus pain and suffering award for the patient.
OA helps prove to judge and jury evidence which measure and trace the progress of care in a quantifiable fashion. It proves medical necessity.
OA will show set-backs. And no one is more qualified to measure pain than the patient.
We like the following OUTCOME ASSESSMENTS:
- OSWESTRY AND NECK DISABILITY INDEX;
- HEADACHE DISABILITY INDEX;
- ROLAND MORRIS LOW BACK;
- COPENHAGEN NECK FUNCTIONAL DISABILITY SCALE; AND
- QUADRUPLE VISUAL PAIN ANALOG SCALE.
If you would like a copy of any of these OA's please contact John
Tawlian.
FARMERS TAKES A HIT
A Placer County jury gave a punishing verdict against Farmers. Tonja Freeman drove a 1997 Ford F150 when she was broadsided by a 2001 Dodge Stratus. Farmers admitted liability but denied the extent of Tonja's injuries.
Tonja Freeman argued she suffered from continuing neck pain due to cervical disc bulges. Her headaches interfered with her daily tasks.
Four chiropractors testified on her behalf. Dr. Don Freeman, D.C. testified against Tonja [no relation]. Tonja demanded 19,999. Farmers
offered $10,500. The Jury awarded $80,000. Aug 10, 2004 SCV 12936.
