This meeting evolved around generating Teamwork, Trust, Pride, Character, Mission, and Revitalization for survival for doctors of chiropractic. CA Senator Speier’s recently proposed Workers’ Comp 15-visit treatment cap for the lifetime chiropractic care of patients woke many, and hopefully all, of us to see that we need to work together. This “proposed cap” is just the beginning of future limitations into other areas, such as Personal Injury and General Insurance. Consequently the following action items were generated:

1. Approve $30,000 to have legal research conducted and an analysis prepared on the eligibility of chiropractic doctors to conduct physicals generally, and in particular, pre-participation physicals for high school athletics and to serve as team doctors in high school sports.
   

2. Strive to increase CCA membership from 3000 (with about 500 students) to 5000 within the next 5 years, without which shows lack of strength as “one family” to win political battles.
   

3. Increase attendance at conventions to draw more sponsors and national speakers, which would increase net revenues to help reduce membership dues, since a big portion of CCA cost is supported herein.
   

4. Change perception in the Workers’ Comp arena by using “Best Practice” guidelines, publish CCA recommended protocols, and develop “Key Doctors” for communication and lobbying.
   

5. Establish a Wellness Task Force to educate the public on our effectiveness.
   

6. Increase the PAC fund from $235,000 to $1 million through increased awareness of the need for ALL doctors to automatically participate monthly, even it is just a dinner cost. Representation numbers and money does talk in politics.
   

7. Encourage doctors to focus on their profession with the highest priority, without which one cannot provide for anyone.
