"Space is the ultimate
destination, a place beyond Earth where one can truly experience the
vastness, beauty and true wonder of the universe.
" Through man's discovery of space, we can better understand
ourselves, our potential for breaking all human barriers. As a space
adventurer you will realize how small our planet is against the vastness
of the universe.
" Space Adventures will make sub-orbital space flight possible by
collaborating with six independent corporations who are each developing
their own version of a Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV). We anticipate space
tourism flights aboard these RLVs to begin within a 2003-2005 timeframe.
All Space Adventures sub-orbital flights will be preceded by a detailed
four-day flight preparation and training program. This highly focused and
inspiring pre-flight program will familiarize you with the RLV flight
program, critical vehicle systems, flight operations, zero gravity
training, in-flight gravity loads and space flight safety procedures.
Prior to the start of regular space tourism flights, each RLV utilized by
Space Adventures will be rigorously tested and licensed for operation in
accordance with safety standards set by the United States Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA).
" With the same anticipation and excitement that astronauts and
cosmonauts experience before their orbital space launch, our flight
specialists will help you don your flight suit and guide you through the
final launch checklist. The launch will begin under the watchful eye of
the pilot and precise control of computers. In an unprecedented sensory
experience, rocket motors will boost the RLV beyond the normal limits of
flight to regions above 62 miles (100 kilometers).** As the RLV nears
maximum altitude, the rocket engines will be shut down and you will
experience up to five minutes of continuous weightlessness and see the
vast blackness of space set against the blue limits of Earth below. To
commemorate your completion of this 30-150* minute space experience, we
will award you with Space Adventures astronaut wings and a lifetime
membership in the Exeo-Atmosphere Club, an exclusive Space Adventures club
for those who have experienced space flight first hand."
* Exact performance is based on the RLV selected for flight.
** Space altitude as determined by the Fédération Aéronautique
Internationale.
