Elings Park is a
regional park and the largest park in Santa Barbara. Its
variety of topography offers an amazing array of activities:
a quiet hike, a moment of stillness on a ridge, a fast-paced
soccer game, a slow-ball pitch, a joyful wedding, a family
picnic, a cheer for the winners of a bike race or the first
solo take off of a paraglider. |

Godric Grove is a very
large estate-like area covering the entire hill top, with
nationally renowned panoramic vistas. It includes a
secluded amphitheatre, a large lawn and a deck area shaded
by oak trees. The amphitheatre seats up to 300. The wooden
deck has circular tables seating 64 with additional
seating around the perimeter of the deck for a total
built-in seated dining capacity of about 100. Godric is
sheltered to the north by an oak forest. |

Park
Elings
Park is located in the hills above Las Positas Rd, between
the 101 Freeway and the beach. Most locals
just call this Las Positas Park (this is how it is labeled
in Mapquest and in the Thomas Guide). Perched on top
of one of Santa Barbara's tallest hills, this park is one
of the city's scenic treasures.
Directions: Take the
101 to Las Positas and turn away from the mountains.
About a mile in turn left into the park. |
